Gypsum it worth the risk?

New factsheet and article provides background and findings from on-farm monitoring of dairy farms using gypsum.

An investigation was prompted by human and cattle deaths during otherwise routine manure handling procedures on farms using gypsum.  A link has been found to highly toxic levels of hydrogen sulfide gas during manure movement and agitation that can be avoided by a few sensible management practices.
