New Holland Agriculture, North America, is continuing their tractor loan program with the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.

A brand new T7.170 tractor was on display at Penn State's Ag Progress Days, August 2013, in the New Holland Building.

The tractor will be taken to the Agricultural Engineering Building for use by instructors and students for teaching machinery design, performance, and operations for the 2013-14 academic years.

Dr. Liu states, "We will be using this tractor in all of our machinery courses and relevant lab activities.  It will provide our students new technology and hands-on activities.  This tractor will be heavily involved in following teaching contents such as: tractor cab design, ergonomics of operator's station, safety and operator performance, CANbus and electronic diagnostic systems, engine and PTO power performance tests, hydraulic power systems, traction field tests, and tractor evaluation. It will also be used in our research and student activities, such as majors fair and student club recruitment."

Next Summer, the tractor will be taken by a local dealer and sold.

This is the fourth tractor that the department has received from this loan program, and we are especially grateful to Willie Greaser, Tractor Marketing Specialist, New Holland Agriculture, North America, for his efforts to keep this program going.
