Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure-track Faculty Appointment

Nature of Position: This position is proposed as a 11-month, tenure-track appointment at the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE), with primary Research (75%) and Teaching (25%) responsibilities and is expected to begin July 1st, 2021.

The faculty member will be expected to develop an externally funded research program addressing priority water quality issues in Oklahoma. Preferred areas of research include, but are not limited to: control of non-point sources of pollution within agricultural production and the rural landscape; reuse of low-quality water resources such as saline groundwater and produced water from oil and gas operations; and rigorous models, data analytics, and decision support systems to address legacy and emerging water quality issues in watersheds, streams, lakes and reservoirs.

The successful applicant will play an important role in Oklahoma's NSF EPSCoR project titled “Socially Sustainable Solutions for Water, Carbon, and Infrastructure Resilience in Oklahoma." As such, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in interdisciplinary research with the Oklahoma EPSCoR team from across a broad array of science and engineering disciplines and institutions. Close collaboration is also expected with faculty in BAE and other departments in the Ferguson College of Agriculture and the College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology, the Oklahoma Water Resources Center, OSU Extension, and other units of the University, as well as regional, state, and federal organizations such as the Oklahoma USDA-NRCS, USDA-ARS Grazinglands Research Laboratory, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, and Oklahoma Conservation Commission.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses within the Biosystems Engineering (ABET accredited) and the Agricultural Systems Technology degree curricula in the areas of water quality engineering, transport of contaminants in natural systems, water quality models, and agricultural water management. Updating and implementing innovative teaching methods/materials and advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students are also expected.


Required: Earned PhD degree in Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline; Proven record of attracting external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and teaching courses; Proficiency in English speaking and writing skills; Willingness to travel; and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Preferred: Current, or the ability to obtain, Professional Engineering registration.

Conditions: Full-time, 11-month, tenure-track appointment at the title of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. This position is contingent on the availability of funding.
