Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering

The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU) has an open Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) in Water Resources for a qualified Ph.D. student to start in Summer or Fall semester 2021.

The water resources systems research program at OSU seeks to advance adaptive water quantity and quality management in the face of growing, competing demands, climatic extremes, and environmental concerns in Oklahoma and other regions. Particular emphasis for the announced GRA position is placed on model-based assessment of watershed scale water quality benefits of rotational grazing operations. Applicants with strong quantitative skills and knowledge of the Agricultural Policy Environmental eXtender (APEX) model are encouraged to apply.

Qualified applicants interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering at OSU should send a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, name and contact information of three academic references and an example publication (peer-reviewed journal paper or Master's thesis) demonstrating prior experience of developing APEX models to Dr. Ali Mirchi (amirchi@okstate.edu).

Minimum requirements include B.S. and M.S. degrees in water resources/civil engineering, environmental engineering, irrigation engineering, agricultural engineering, or a closely related field, proof of English proficiency for applicants whose native language is not English, and excellent academic performance.

The location of the GRA position will be OSU's main campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. OSU is a modern land-grant system of interdisciplinary programs with students from all 50 states and around 120 nations. As Oklahoma's only university with a statewide presence, OSU improves the lives of people in Oklahoma, the nation, and the world through integrated, high-quality teaching, research, and outreach.
