MS or PhD student to start Fall 2021

The Automation and Connected Technologies Lab, in the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), is looking for a MS or PhD student, starting in Fall 2021. The successful candidate will conduct research on machine/deep learning, robotics, and machinery systems/management to improve farmworkers' efficiency in fruit crops production. Assistantship includes a stipend, tuition support, and benefits.

Qualifications: Candidates are expected to 1) hold a Bachelor degree (for M.S. program) or a M.S. degree (for Ph.D. program) in Agricultural Engineering, Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering, computer science, or a related area; 2) be able to work independently and have good oral and writing communication skills (in English).

Preferences: Candidates are preferred to 1) have good programming skills in Python, Matlab and/or C++; 2) have experience with machine learning (including deep learning capabilities), IoT and embedded systems, computer vision (2D and/or 3D), or ROS.
