Heather Gall, assistant professor of agricultural and biological engineering, led the creation of an emerging contaminants footprint calculator, which is a downloadable spreadsheet consumers can use to document the types of products they have in their homes and calculate the potential water-quality impacts of those chemicals.
Animal agriculture poses significant challenges in ensuring water quality goals for the Chesapeake Bay are met. The overarching goal of this PA Department of Agriculture funded project is to conduct a comprehensive environmental and economic analysis that will enable opportunities for the development of animal agriculture in western Pennsylvania to be identified.
